Adelaide (Carvalho) Mello, 89, of Fall River, passed away on Tuesday. Widow of Alfred B. "Fred" Mello. Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Joseph C. and Maria dos Anjos (Souza) Carvalho. Adelaide worked for many years for Louis Hand Curtain Factory as a folder. She was a loving and caring woman, able to bring a smile to anyone's face. Her gift was the care that she gave to family, friends and strangers alike. She was a devoted volunteer for the Holy Name School and St. Vincent's Home. In recent years, she made many friends at both the Swansea Adult Day Care and the Highland Adult Day Care. Adelaide was the loving mother of Pat Souza and her husband Jim Souza; sister of Mary Camara; grandmother of Melissa Aguiar and her husband, Michael Aguiar and Christopher Souza and his fiancee, Rebecca Settle; great grandmother of Brandon Langton; sister of the late Elvira Ferreira, Norbert C. Carvalho, Frank Carvalho, Joe Carvalho and David Carvalho. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, January 17, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
