Agnes
Pereira
d. Jun 22, 2025
Agnes Pereira, 99, of Somerset, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Clifton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Fall River, where she resided most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Fernandes and the late Gloria (Simoes) Fernandes.
Employed in the local textile industry, retiring in 1991 from Bo-Mar Mfg after many years, Agnes was a member of ILGWU (International Ladies Garment Workers Union) now called UNITE. She was a devoted and active parishioner of the former Sts. Peter & Paul Church and a longtime member of its folk group. Agnes was also a dedicated Cub Scout den mother with its Pack 17.
In her younger days, Aggie enjoyed dancing at Lincoln Park and always enjoyed the music of Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby. And in her later years, she enjoyed walking and could be found many a morning briskly moving along her South Park, downtown Fall River, and Heritage Park. Agnes was also an avid, lifelong New York Yankees fan.
She is survived by: a son, Kenneth Pereira (Sue Simard) of Somerset; three grandchildren, Kathryn Flanagan of Westport, Amy Carr (Michael) of Fall River, and Cory David Pereira of Fall River; six great grandchildren, Riley David Flanagan, Lexie Flanagan, Emily Carr, Lauren Carr, Olivia Pereira, and Madison Pereira; former daughter-in-law, Jane Pereira; and many nieces and nephews.
Agnes was predeceased by: her son, David Pereira; and all her siblings, Lucille Rebello, John Fernandes, Helen Fernandes, Olivia Correia, and Manuel Fernandes.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Clifton for their exceptional care, especially the staff on second floor west.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, July 2nd, at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fall River followed by a private committal. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Agnes' memory to a charity of your choice.
Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. If you were unable to do so, because of health concerns or any other reason, all are urged to express their sympathy online or by mail. To ensure that said condolences and/or sympathy cards reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website (www.silvafaria.com) and not through a third party. Thank you!
