Agostinho Bernardo, 86, formerly of Fall River, husband of the late Deodata (Raposo) Bernardo, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Country Gardens Nursing Home, Swansea. Born in Santa Barbara, Santo Antonio, on the isle of St. Michael, in the Azores, son of the late Antonio & Georgina (Farias) Bernardo, he emigrated to Fall River in 1980. He worked as a janitor at the former Foxboro Co. for about ten years until his retirement in the early 1990s, and was an avid Benfica soccer fan. He leaves: 6 children, Mario & Joseph Bernardo both of Fall River, Delia Tavares of Mississauga, Canada, Nizalda Borges, Odilia Bernardo & Alda Benjamin all of Fall River; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; many nieces & nephews. He was also a brother of the late: Maria Ferreira, Mariana Viveiros, Silvana Violante, Joao, Antonio, Manuel & Jose Bernardo. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, May 18th, in St Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal and entombment at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
