In her younger days she was employed in the local garment industry, as a seamstress at the former Louis Hand, and she had also worked at the former Parker's Candies. An active parishioner of the former St. Elizabeth's Church, she was a member of its Women's Guild and volunteered her cooking skills at church functions. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and making blankets for expectant mothers.

She is survived by: five children, John Furtado of Fall River, Antone Furtado (Michael A. Salafia) of Sagamore Beach, MA, Maria Boyer (Karl Gosson) of Assonet, Joe Furtado (Edward Darling) of Fall River, and Paul Furtado (Krystal) of Fall River; two siblings, Alice Dutra of Faial, Azores and Jose Rosa of California; three grandchildren, Lauryn Furtado, Matthew Furtado, and Derek Boyer; one great grandson, Johnathan; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five siblings, Francisco, Antonio, Manuel, Joao, Francisca, and Maria. Special thanks go out to Aida's caregivers, Mary, Jessica, and Kylie.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, February 4th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her private committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
