Aires Manuel DaCunha, 57, of Westport, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, March 5, 2021 at home after a brief illness. Born in Terceira, Azores, he was the son of Aida (Farias) DaCunha and the late Jose M. DaCunha.

Prior to his illness and retirement, he was a machine operator in the local textile industry. He loved fishing, cooking, and baking. A fun-loving guy and a bit of a jokester, Aires valued family and spending quality time with all of them.

Besides his loving mother, he leaves: his three sisters, Maria McDonald and her husband, Scott, Dina Varao (late husband, Aires), both of Fall River, and Shirley DaCunha of Westport; his two brothers, Olavo DaCunha of Fall River and William DaCunha of Westport; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Following cremation, His Memorial Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, March 20th, in Espirito Santo Church in Fall River.
