Albert Afonso, 74, of Fall River, husband of Eileen (Branco) Afonso, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Manuel Afonso and the late Mary (Ferreira) Afonso.
A United States Army Veteran, he proudly and bravely served his country during Vietnam. Prior to his retirement he was a Tool Maker for Naval Underwater Systems for many years. Very intelligent and mechanically inclined, Albert possessed a unique knack for meticulously working on automobiles with great precision. He enjoyed traveling, trips to the casino, and frequenting Fogland Beach in Tiverton, Rhode Island. Most important to Albert was family and spending quality time with all of them, especially his grandchildren who meant the world to him.
Besides his devoted wife of forty-two years, he leaves his loving children, Carl Manuel Afonso and his wife, Stasia, of Fall River, and Eric Silva and his wife, Kimberly, of Texas; his grandchildren, Caroline Silva, Katelyn Silva, Eric Silva, II, and Landon Afonso; one sister, Rosemarie Afonso of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral arrangements were private.
