Albert D. "Sonny" Dias Sr, 88, of Swansea, husband of the late Marianna "Badga" (Barboza) Dias, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 8, 2012 following recent surgery at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Providence, son of the late Frank & Jenny (Martin) Dias, he lived in Swansea most of his life. Employed with Wm H Harris Fur Co. for many years prior to his retirement, he was also a US Navy veteran of WWII. Leaving a loving companion Beatrice Tabor for many years, he also leaves: 6 children, Peppy Dias of Providence, Cheryl Taylor of Riverside, Rebecca Varella of Delaware, Donna O'Connor (husband Thomas) of Rehoboth, Neal Dias (wife Erika) & Albert "Brother" Dias (wife Odette) both of Swansea; 2 sisters, Evelyn Barboza & Dolly Selha both of Wareham; numerous loving in-laws; 19 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandson; many nieces & nephews. Also father of the late George Dias; brother of the late Mary Corey & Louise Dias. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, July 13, in St Anthony of Padua Church followed by his commmittal with military honors at Notre Dame Cemetery.
