Albert Vilela,
Jr.
d. May 12, 2023
Albert Vilela, Jr., 70, of Fall River, passed away unexpectedly while on vacation in Marietta, Georgia. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Albert "Bat" Vilela and the late Mary Louise (Montgomery) Vilela.
Albert was a longtime sales representative in various business sectors, to include retail auto and wholesale food. In his younger years, he was also employed in construction (a former member of Laborers Union Local 610) and as a surveyor for a couple of engineering firms.
Albert was a baseball fanatic and an avid Red Sox fan. He played softball in local leagues for 30 years, winning several championships for different teams, one of which was the Somerset Progressive Club where he was also a past President. In recent years, he loved watching his granddaughter, Trinity, participate in softball, among other sports.
A devoted father, Albert is survived by: four children, Derek Vilela (wife April) of New Bedford, Justin Vilela of Fall River, Joshua Vilela of Fall River, and Alexis Vilela of Somerset; two brothers, Scott Vilela (life partner Melanie Moore) of Fall River and Randall Vilela (wife Colleen) of Swansea; five grandchildren, Travis, Krista, Destiny Myles, Derek, and Trinity; four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Albert is now reunited with his life's love: Lori Pacheco Olivera.
Following his cremation in Georgia, a prayer service was held on Tuesday, May 23rd, during a visitation period in our Somerset Chapel. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider making a donation in Albert's memory to the American Stroke Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692; 800-242-8721; American Stroke Association.
