Albert Medeiros, 77, of Somerset, passed away at home on Friday, July 23, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Fall River, he was the husband of Paula (Lindo) Medeiros and the son of the late Manuel Medeiros and the late Mary Natalie (Mateus) Medeiros. He resided in Somerset for the past fifty years.

After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in business from the former Southeastern Massachusetts University (now UMass Dartmouth), he taught Government and History for 36 years at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School. He honorably served his country for 36 years with the Army National Guard of Rhode Island, retiring as First Sergeant in 2004; and for fifteen years he was a Military Honor Guard Team Leader.

An accomplished trombonist, Albert loved his music. He enjoyed performing as a member of the 88 th Army Band, was a founding member of the Moonlighters Orchestra of Rhode Island and was also a member of the North Tiverton Band. Albert was an avid sports fan and loved his Red Sox and Patriots.

Besides his beloved wife, of 51 years, he is survived by: three children, Bethany Preble (husband Todd) of Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, Robyn Medeiros of Somerset, and Matthew Medeiros (wife Adrienne) of Westfield, MA; four grandchildren, Meghan, Zachary, Connor, and Kayleigh; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Maria Mary Conceicao De Sousa.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, July 27th, in St. John of God Church, Somerset, followed by his committal with military honors at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.

As a show of appreciation for the exceptional care and compassion provided by the hospice team at Southcoast Health Visiting Nurses Association (VNA), the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, you please consider making a donation in Albert's memory to Southcoast VNA, 200 Mill Road, Suite 120, Fairhaven, MA 02719; 508-973-3200
