Obituary

Albert "Cal" Pedro, 97, of Fall River and husband of the late Agnes (Mello) Pedro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Fall River, he was the third son of the late John Pedro and the late Delphina (Domingos) Pedro.

Cal attended Durfee High School and served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. Upon returning from the war, he married Agnes Mello and was happily married for thirty-six years before her passing. He worked as a mechanic in the textile industry for over thirty-five years. A member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, he was also the President of the Young Nationals Soccer Club where he played at the semi-pro level. Cal/Poppy was involved with his entire family and he has left with them an unmistakable blueprint on how to live their lives with dignity and respect while treating others the same way. He led by example and was an exceptionally kind person. He enjoyed watching sports and he never passed up an opportunity to help others in need.

Besides his companion of thirty years, Jean Perry, Cal is survived by his loving daughter, Joyce Fox and her husband, Terrance, of VA: his three grandchildren, Annie Fox-Galalis, Katie Fox-Lillard, and Patrick Fox; his eight great-grandchildren Jack, Andrew, Leah, Marin, and Abby Galalis, Shay, Quinn, and Reese Lillard; one sister, Connie Reis (late husband, Joseph; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late John, Alfred, and Edward Pedro, Alice Potvin, and Delores Arruda.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and caregivers who were so attentive to Cal during his time of need, and in particular, they are indebted to Susan Pedro for her tireless support over these past few years and to Erin McGeough for her support during this time.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, November 12th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal with Military Honors at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
