Alcina C. (Aguiar) Leonardo, 90, widow of the late Luiz C. Leonardo, Sr., passed away on July 31, 2019 in Fall River. Alcina was born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores and was a daughter of the late Joao Aguiar and Rosalina (Pacheco) Aguiar. She had been employed in the textile industries for various manufacturers as a sewing machine operator for many years and was a member of the ACWA. She was a member St. Anthony of Padua Church. A strong woman of faith, she participated in many of the prayer groups and attended special retreats and events held at St. Anthony of Padua, as well as, Our Lady of Mount Carmel in New Bedford, MA. Her faith was inspiring to both her family and all who had the privilege of meeting her. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and, most especially, cooking Thanksgiving for her family every Sunday! She will be missed by her adoring family. She is survived by two daughters: Maria L. Pacheco and her husband Liberto; Suzanne M. Thibert both of Fall River. She was predeceased by two sons: Luiz C Leonardo, Jr – wife Ann Marie (Vohnoutka) and Robert Leonardo – wife Kimberly (Bobish). She had 11 grandchildren: Michelle (Pacheco) Joynt – husband, John; Thomas L Pacheco – significant other, Meghan Healy; Timothy L Pacheco; Danielle A Thibert; Nicole M (Leonardo) Emmons – husband, Adam; Bethanie L Leonardo – significant other, Cliff Prazeres; Shana L (Leonardo) Couto – husband, Alex; Kayla V (Leonardo) Debigare – husband, Jeff; Rhiannon Rose Leonardo; Robert Luiz Leonardo; John Joseph Leonardo; 15 great grandchildren: Shannon Emily Joynt; Owen Thomas Pacheco; Noah Anthony Pacheco; Payton Rose Thibert; Daniel Jude LoVerde; Knox Castiel Wiggins; Grace Elizabeth Emmons; Sophie Ann Emmons; Logan Luiz Macomber; Olivia Ann Couto; Addison Alcina Couto; Lincoln Michael Debigare; Colin Norman Couto; Logan Joseph Prazeres; Morgan Elizabeth Prazeres. She is survived by 2 sisters: Luzia Calmeira Aguiar and Maria C. Moniz both of Fall River; 2 sisters-in-law: Iria Aguiar of Fall River and Margarida Aguiar of Westport; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings: Maria Rosa Pacheco Aguiar, Manuel Aguiar, and Joe Aguiar. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, August 6th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
