Alda Araujo, 89, of Fall River, passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Arrifes, St. Michael, Azores, she was the only child of the late Daniel Tavares and the late Maria (Da Costa) Tavares. She emigrated to Fall River in 1966 and was employed as a seamstress in the local textile industry for many years, eventually retiring from Rothschild Manufacturing.

Alda had a slew of interests, but her favorites were spending time with her family, dining out, fashion, sewing, and crocheting. She loved to crochet matching sets of doilies, which now adorn all of her daughters' homes. She also loved shopping for and wearing vibrant colored clothing, jewelry, and one of her most favorite accessories—her beloved high heeled shoes. She loved her family fiercely and showed it in many ways, one of which was by making her famous codfish casserole for them whenever she could. She had an extremely giving nature and a unique sense of humor, both of which have undoubtedly been passed on to all of her children.

She is survived by seven children:  Paul Araujo, Jenny Pavao, Gee Arruda, Aida Spohn, Natalia Ferreira, Silvino Araujo, and Sally Costa; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Danny Araujo and the late Juvenalio Araujo.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, April 22nd, in St. Joseph's Church followed by her private committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
