Obituary

Alda M. Borges, 73, of Somerset, wife of the late Tiago Borges, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Viveiros and the late Maria (Canto) Viveiros.

Prior to her retirement she worked as a housekeeper for a local nursing home for many years. "Vavo", as many called her, loved gardening, socializing, attending the Boston Ballet, hosting for the holidays, and spending quality time with her family; especially her grandchildren. She never missed her grandchildren's dance, theater, and musical performances, and was their biggest fan. She was loved by everyone who came to know her. Many of whom adopted her as their own Vavo. As a devout Catholic, Alda was always steadfast in her belief in God and attended Mass faithfully.

She leaves her loving children, Sally P. Borges of Dighton, Richard G. Borges and his wife Rosemary of Somerset, and David Borges and his wife Jenna of Middleboro; her five grandchildren, Kyle Aguiar, Samantha Aguiar, Stella Borges, Nora Borges, and Jaye Marie Borges; her brother, Joao de Viveiros and his wife Maria of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Luis de Viveiros, Antonio de Viveiros, and Maria Margarida Rego.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, November 3rd, at St. John of God Church in Somerset followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.

Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. If you were unable to do so, because of this pandemic or any other reason, all are urged to express their sympathy online or by mail. To ensure that said condolences and/or sympathy cards reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website (www.silvafaria.com) and not through a third party. Thank you!
