Obituary

Our guardian angel, Alda Resendes Tavares, 67, of Somerset, Ma, was called back to heaven on December 2, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Alda was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, to the late Alberto Resendes and Lidia (DaSilva) Resendes.

Alda is survived by her husband of forty-six years, Ronald Tavares. For Alda, family, friends, and her grandchildren were the joys of her life. She was the mother of Eric Tavares (wife Jessica Fiola) of Fall River, the late Brian Joseph Tavares, and Craig Tavares (wife Megan Mulligan) of Somerset. Alda was the sister of Messias "Lee" Leandro and his family, and was more like a sister to her sisters-in-law, Irene (Tavares) Parandelis and Lorriane Tavares. While Alda loved her sons unconditionally, she cherished her time with her grandchildren, Emma Alexandria Tavares, Connor Brian Tavares, and Daniel Joseph Tavares. They were the light of her life. Alda was also Godmother and Aunt to many. She was beloved by the students and staff members at the Atlantis Charter School in Fall River, where she worked for many years. There are endless stories of "Miss Alda" providing comfort to students through hugs and snacks. Alda loved bringing her family together and making sure no one ever went hungry. She loved trips overseas, especially to her home country of Portugal and the Azores. There is no amount of written space that could truly capture the effect she had on others. She was larger than life and will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you honor her memory by loving fiercely, laughing often, and treating everyone you meet with kindness and compassion.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, December 10th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.

Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. If you were unable to do so, because of this pandemic or any other reason, all are urged to express their sympathy online or by mail. To ensure that said condolences and/or sympathy cards reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website ( www.silvafaria.com ) and not through a third party. Thank you!
