Alfred Bergeron, 85, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Danielson, Connecticut, and Riverside, Rhode Island, passed away in Venice, Florida, on Thursday, October 16, 2008, following an illness. He was the husband of the late Alice E. (Dyer) Bergeron. Born in Warren, Rhode Island, he was a son of the late Joseph Bergeron and the late Florence (Moore) Bergeron. Alfred was employed as a union pipe coverer for many years, until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Asbestos Workers Union, Local 123, and a former volunteer fire fighter with the South Killingly Fire Department in Connecticut. A World War II Veteran of the United States Navy, he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations onboard the USS Radford. Al enjoyed his retirement years in Florida spending time with his family and fishing. Surviving family members include his two sons, Thomas A. Bergeron and his wife Cindy of Danielson, Connecticut, and David R. Bergeron and his wife Rose of Venice, Florida, six grandchildren, Thomas Bergeron, Jr., Christopher Bergeron, Brian Bergeron, Kimberly Provencal, Ashley Forrestal and Taylor Bergeron. He also leaves seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Arrangements in Florida were private. A Memorial Service was attended by family and his cremated remains entered into rest at Little Neck Gardens Cemetery.
