Alfred V. Medeiros, 89, of Somerset, passed away Thursday unexpectedly. Husband of Patricia (Silvia) Medeiros, to whom he was married for 67 years. Born in Somerset, son of the late Frank V. and Mary Medeiros. A Marine Corps veteran of WWII, he worked at the former Ideal Laundry for many years. In 1959 he joined the Somerset Police Force where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant before retiring. Beloved father of Michael (wife-Karen) and James (partner-Bruce) Medeiros and Patricia Silva (husband-Joe); grandfather of Katy Stafford (husband-Tom), Lizz Silva (partner-Nichole), Michael and Stephen Medeiros; great grandfather of the "Fabulous Four": Emma, Sophie, Keegan and Molly Sullivan; brother of the late George, Frank and James Medeiros and Mary Maynard. Fred also leaves a special niece, JoAnne Meehan and several other nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, April 14th in St John of God Church followed by his committal with military honors at St. Patrick Cemetery in Somerset.
