Alfred L. "Pete" Potvin, 83, of Fall River, passed away on January 30, 2009 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was the husband of Alice (Pedro) Potvin, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Fall River, son of the late Alfred & Germaine (Benoyer) Potvin. A WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy, he worked as a cook at the former Stafford Square Diner for 25 years before working in Maintenance at the main branch of the Fall River Post Office, retiring in 1990. Pete enjoyed fishing and was an avid fan of the Bruins and Red Sox. Survivors include brothers, Robert, Norman and Romeo Potvin, all of Fall River, sisters, Jean Pelletier and Loretta Michaud, both of Fall River and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Bill Potvin and Peggy Landry. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Pallbearers Kenny and David Potvin, Nathan Medeiros, Paul Reis, Edward and Steven Pedro and Derek Rego brought Alfred to his final resting place at St. Patrick Cemetery.
