Obituary

Alice (Borges) Amaral, 88, of Fall River passed away on March 11, 2020 in Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Armando Amaral. Alice was born in Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores and was a daughter of the late Antonio and Paulina (Arruda) Borges. She had been employed by Rothschild for many years prior to her retirement. As the matriach of the family, she organized all the family gatherings so she could spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren whom she adored.  A woman of strong faith, she was an active parishioner of Espirito Santo Church where she was recognized as a recipient of the Marian Medal for her involvement with their Holy Rosary and Holy Ghost Societies. Alice was well known for cooking malassadas at many of the  feasts.

Alice is survived by: her children, Armando Amaral, Jr., George Amaral and his wife Natalie, Theresa Arruda and her late husband John, Linda Raposo and her husband Joe, all of Fall River and Edward Amaral and his wife Pheobe of Florida; a daughter in law Debra Amaral, whom was married to the late Dimas Amaral; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and was expecting an additional 2 more. She was the mother of the late Dimas Amaral. Alice was the sister of the late  Eduardo, Antonio, Jorge, Hortence and Beatriz Borges, Olivia Carvalho, Maria Cabral, and Paulina Arruda.

Due to the COVID pandemic, a private funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 18th, in our Fall River Chapel followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
