Alice S. Botelho, 89, of William St. Westport, passed away on January 23, 2013 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was born and grew up in Fall River. She would want to thank those at Kimwell Nursing Home who have been part of Her Family for four years. Wife of the late William C. Botelho Jr and daughter of the late Manuel J. and Maria (Sousa) Silvia. Her love for my Father stood before all other life experiences. I can only wish that all could experience the love and dedication they had for each other. They were married for 70 years with the last 4 where my Dad waited in Heaven. From the time she was born, health concerns tried to hold her back but none could. Her will and joy of life taught her to adapt her lifestyle to beat illness and when to stand firm for what we needed to live and bring up her family. She taught us when to use both and it is has inspired us throughout our lives. She loved her gardening, fishing with her family, daytrips just riding to places to see new things, taking care of her home, and education and Foxwoods. Mohawk Trail was her vacation spot. She graduated from school as a special needs student and believed education was the start of life. Now develop intelligence to balance it off. She volunteered for any worthwhile cause especially with the DAV, both and the state and was past Commander of the Ladies Auxiliary of the HS Nickerson Ladies Auxiliary and also the Past Commander of Chapter 9 Ladies Auxiliary. Her hospital visits and anything she could do to help the Veterans were always at the top of her list. She started attending St Anthony of Padua Church until 1963 when we all moved to Westport and she has attended Our Lady of Grace Church ever since. After her children were grown and able to take care of ourselves, she went back to work at the former Ross Mathews until her retirement after 18 years. Alice leaves her loving family and friends, her sons, Richard & Dora of Westport, and William & Linda of Fall River and her Foster Son Leonard Bourque. Her grandchildren, Victoria Botelho, Tracy Havermann, Christine Bercier, Steven, Robert, and Scott Botelho, Amy & Julie; 17 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild She was also sister of the late Hilda Perez, and Mary Alexander. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, January 28, in Our Lady of Grace Church in Westport followed by her committal at Beech Grove Cemetery.
