Alice (Eleuterio) Moreira , 92, of Fall River, died peacefully on Monday at Somerset Ridge, surrounded by her loving and caring children. Devoted wife of John Moreira to whom she was married for 67 years. Born in Lagoa, S. Miguel, Acores, daughter of the late Antonio and Luisa Eleuterio, she lived in Fall River most of her life. A retired seamstress, she worked for nearly 20 years at the former Lowenstein Dress and then the former Whittenton Dress companies. Alice's passion, delight and center of her universe were her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook for her family and also enjoyed gardening. Never did a day go by that Alice didn't have a smile and positive word for everyone. Loving mother of Luisa Medeiros (husband-Dennis) of Fall River, Alice Machado (husband-Manuel) of Somerset, Michael Moreira of Westport, John Moreira (wife-Brenda) of South Dartmouth and Roy Moreira of Tiverton; grandmother of Elizabeth Couto, Madalena Medeiros, Roy Machado, Jennifer Kirby, Michael, Adam, Eric and Craig Moreira, Erika Rebello and Ashley Carreiro; mother-in-law of the late Donna Moreira; sister of the late Maria da Conceicao de Barros, Laureno, Antonio, Fernando and Humberto Eleuterio; sister-in-law of Antonio Barros, Sophia and Valentina Eleuterio. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, a great great grandson, many nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, May 23rd, in St. Mary's Cathedral followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery. The family graciously acknowledges the loving care and dedication Alice received by the staff at Somerset Ridge Nursing Facility-Pottersvile Unit, during her 5 year residency. They ensured that she was kept comfortable right until the end of her long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
