Alice (Carnivel) Pelagio, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Southpointe Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Fall River, Massachusetts. She was 98. A lifelong resident of Fall River, she was the widow of Mateo Pelagio. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Gregorio Carnivel and the late Delphine (Potvin) Carnivel. A 1932 graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and the wife of a U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer, she was privileged to keep the family home 'shipshape' and enjoyed raising their three boys. A devout Christian, Alice was a very active member for many years at the former Bogle Street Congregational Christian Church of Fall River and was also a member of the First Congregational Church in Fall River. She was an avid dancer with her beloved husband, Mateo, and a skilled bowler at the Holiday Lanes in Westport, MA. Surviving family members include her two sons, Gregory A. Pelagio of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, and Ronald R. Pelagio of Sterling, Connecticut, a brother, Honorio Carnivel of Westport, MA, eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Reginald M. Pelagio, and the sister of the late Doris Alves. Her Christian Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, March 26, in our Fall River chapel followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
