Obituary

Alice Santos, 95, of Bristol, formerly of Fall River, widow of John Santos, passed away on Wednesday April 29, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Manor in Bristol, RI, after a long illness. Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Manuel M. & Maria (Perreira) Silva, she had also lived in Tiverton.

She was employed in the local garment industry for many years, working for various companies, and was a member of the former ACTWU (now UNITE). She loved to cook and enjoyed playing Bingo and the slots.

She is survived by: four sons, John Santos, Jr. (wife Barbara) of Fall River, David Santos (wife Helen) of Warwick, RI, William Santos (wife Nancy) of Tiverton, and Ronald Santos (wife Christine) of Tiverton, RI; ten grandchildren, Darlene Santos, John Santos III, Tracy Santos, David Santos II, Kyle D. Santos, Amy Do, Justin Orzeck, Eric Orzeck, Thomas Santos, and Michael Santos; ten great grandchildren, Joshua, Vinny, Joey, Victoria, Jacob, Ava, Anthony, Knox, Noah, and Lucas; many nieces & nephews. She was also predeceased by her eight siblings, Manuel Silva, Irene Gergora, Luis Silva, John Silva, Joseph Silva, Silvana Vianna, Francisco Silva, and Anthony Silva; and a granddaughter, Tammy Santos.

Due to the COVID pandemic, Alice was laid to rest on Saturday, May 2nd, with a private committal service at Notre Dame Cemetery.

When the current crisis has abated enough for large gatherings to again take place, the Santos family is planning to arrange for the offering of a Memorial Funeral Mass at Espirito Santo Church, to which extended family, friends and the public will be invited – and details will be announced here.

Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. Being unable to do so, because of this pandemic, all are urged to express sympathy online or by mail.

To ensure that said condolences reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website ( www.silvafaria.com ) and not through a third party. Thank you!
