Alice (Nery) Silva, age 85, a lifelong resident of Fall River, formerly of Lawton Street and Sixteenth Street, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013, at the Southpointe Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center in Fall River, following an extended illness. She was the widow of William M. Silva, who was also known as "Billy Brock". Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Christovam F. Nery and the late Laura (Souza) Nery. After working in the garment trade for several years, Alice landed a job as a clerk with Aetna Insurance Company, working there until her retirement in 1990. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church and also a member of the former St. Elizabeth's Church of Tucker Street. Surviving family members include her four children; Edward Silva & his wife, Darcy, of Westport, Diane M. Teixeira & her husband, David Souliere, of Fall River, Robert Silva of Fall River, and Nancy Coulombe & her husband, Steve, of Fall River, a sister, Zulmira Dias & her husband, Joe, of Dunedin, FL, a brother, Arthur Nery & his wife, Winnie, of New Bedford, MA, and a sister, Natalie Alves & her husband, Norman, of Ft. Myers Beach, FL, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late John Nery. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, June 21, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
