Alice (Silva) Silvia, age 96, formerly of 9 Davis St., Fall River, died Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Somerset Ridge Nursing Center, surrounded by family and misty-eyed, care giving professionals who had attended her during her six plus years at the facility. She was the wife of the late Augustus A. "Fred" Silvia. Born in Fall River, last surviving child of the late Marianno J. and Maria (Moniz) Silva. Her father Marianno was the founder of the Silva Funeral Homes, which are still being operated by his descendants in the Fall River and Taunton areas. Following her marriage, she and her husband remained in Fall River until after World War II at which time they relocated to New Jersey where they resided in Kearney and later moved to Tom's River. In 1995 they returned to Fall River. She was parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church and is survived by 8 nieces and 6 nephews in addition to many great and great great nieces and nephews. Retired Judge Milton R. Silva of Swansea, William R. Silva of Taunton, Albert Silva of Fairhaven, Theodore Anjos of Tennessee, John Silva of Somerset and Edmund Silva of Fall River are the surviving nephews. The nieces are Dorothy King of Taunton, Madeline Murphy of Wakefield, RI, Pauline Moniz of Somerset, Virginia Monteiro and Dolores Cuperwich of New Jersey, Barbara Cameron of Florida, Shirley Santos of Portugal and Dolores Pavlosky of Pennsylvania. Her funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Church Entombment in Notre Dame Mausoleum.
