Alice (Couto) Soares, 97, of Fall River, and formerly of Birch St., died on Sunday, September 9, 2007. She was the widow of Antonio Soares. Born in the village of Santo Antonio Alem Capelas, on the island of St. Michael in the Azores, she was a daughter of the late Jose Couto Cabral and the late Maria do Carmo Soares. She immigrated to Fall River in 1967 and proudly became a U. S. citizen thirty years later. Alice was a parishioner of the former Our Lady of Angels Church. Her survivors include three sons, Gilberto C. Soares and Antonio L. Soares of Fall River, and Jose Soares of Montreal, Canada, three daughters, Maria do Carmo Soares of St. Michael, Azores, Eduarda Miguel and Maria Cabral of Fall River, a sister, Cecilia Aguiar of Fall River, eighteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her funeral was held Wednesday, September 12th, in Good Shepherd Parish Church. Pallbearers were John Soares, Tony Soares, Sirino Soares, Steve Cabral, Joe Miguel and Gil Melo. Interment Notre Dame Cemetery.
