Alice Ventura, 97, of Westport, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, at the Catholic Memorial Home, after a brief illness.

Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Manuel J. Cordeiro and the late Maria (Almeida) Cordeiro. Prior to her retirement, she worked in the local textile industry as a sewing machine operator for many years. She loved baking, sewing, and her daily walks. She also enjoyed playing bingo at the Westport Senior Center and traveling to such places as New York, Washington, New Hampshire, and Canada. Alice was a loving, kind, and gentle woman who sorely will be missed by many.

She leaves: her children, Judith Cormier and her husband, Richard, of Westport, and John Raposa and his wife, Denise, of Fall River; three grandchildren, John Raposa, Jr, Cindy Levesque Walsh, and Derek Potvin; three great-grandchildren, Ashley Potvin, Gavin Walsh, and Alex Raposa; her brother, Manuel Cordeiro (late wife, Rita) of Fairhaven; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Olivia Raposa, Beatrice Barboza, Marie Cordeiro, and Marianna DeMatos.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, December 30th, in St. Michael's Church followed by her private committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
