Obituary

Almerinda Arruda, 95, formerly of Carr St., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday. Widow of Jose Arruda. She was the youngest of five children born to the late Manuel Paulino and Maria do Carmo Raposo in the small village of Arrifes in Sao Miguel, Acores. She later met and married the love of her life and best friend, Jose. They emigrated to this country in 1969 and eventually became citizens. Almerinda and Jose spent many hours planting gardens, tending to the yard and praying their rosaries. Together they were blessed with three daughters, Maria do Carmo Raposo (husband-Jose), Almerinda Alves (husband-Manuel) and Connie Arruda (husband-David); 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Almerinda's illness of these last 13 years will always serve as a lesson in patience, compassion and humility. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, February 7, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
