Alvaro D"Amaral, 81, of Orange Street in Fall River, died Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was the husband of the late Lucilia (Emiliano) De Amaral. Born in the village of Agua Retorta, on the island of St. Michael, in the Azores, he was a son of the late Gabriel and Gloria (Correiro) Amaral. A Fall River resident for 41 years, he worked in construction and was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Alvaro is survived by five sons, Joseph De Amaral of Fall River, Louis Amaral of West Virginia, Daniel Amaral of Florida, Americo Amaral of Somerset, and Robert Amaral of Dartmouth, five daughters, Lucy Sousa and Laudalina Cordeiro of Fall River, Gabriela Carvalho and Gloria Mello of Somerset, and Anna Bento of Fall River, a brother, Louis Amaral of Fall River, two sisters, Maria Jose Fernandes of Fall River, and Zulmira Fournier of Westport, twenty grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also father of the late Raul Domingos Amaral. Funeral was held Saturday, July 28, in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Pallbearers were Americo Amaral, Jr., Daniel Amaral, Jr., David Sousa, Joseph D'Amaral, Scott Sousa, Andrew Amaral, Al Resendes and Derick Cordeiro. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery.
