Amelia Soares, 85, of Borden East, passed away on March 28, 2009, unexpectedly. Born in Fall River and a life long resident, daughter of the late Antonio J. and Maria T. (Rego) Soares. She was office manager of the former Fall River Paper Supply Co. for 39 years. An active member, at both local and state levels, of the Massachusetts Business and Professional Women's Association, she served as state treasurer. She was also a member of Sacred Heart Church Women's Guild and Seniors Group, the Whippoorwills Chorus Group, current secretary of the Borden East Tenants Assoc., and a volunteer of Share New England and Sacred Heart Soup Kitchen. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cross stitching and crafts. Sister of Manuel J. and James J. Soares, Mary Grande and the late Antone J. Soares. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Her funeral Mass was celebrated in Sacred Heart Church. Pallbearers James, Steven, Anthony and Michael Soares, David Grande and Steven Prentis brought Amelia to her final resting place at Notre Dame Cemetery.
