Americo J. da Silva, 84, of Fall River, husband of Ilda (Areias) da Silva, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Catholic Memorial Home. Born in Porto, Portugal, son of the late Jose Salgado da Silva and the late Carolina (Jesus) da Silva, he emigrated to Fall River in 2000.

He was employed as an office manager with an electric utility company in Portugal for 42 years. Americo was a member of the Fall River Sports Club; and he enjoyed playing cards.

Besides his wife, of 62 years, he is survived by: four children, Manuela Costa (husband Abilio), Fernanda DeSa (husband Carlos), Ana McElroy, and Jose da Silva (wife Graca) all of Fall River; two sisters, Francelina Esteves and Maria Fernandes both of Portugal; eight grandchildren, Monica Costa, Bryan DeSa, Natasha DeSa, Devin McElroy, Tracy McElroy, Fabio da Silva, Andrea da Silva, and Blake da Silva; eleven great gradchildren, Justin, Mila, Carly, Avery, Willow, Mackenzie, Anabel, Landon, Aleena, Aubrey, and Aiden; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Odete da Silva.

Following his cremation, a Funeral Service was held on Sunday, April 11th, during a memorial gathering in our Fall River Chapel. A private committal for his cremains followed on Monday at Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider making a donation in Americo's memory to a charity of one's choice.
