Ana
Albergaria-Sarmento
d. May 5, 2025
Ana Albergaria Sarmento, commonly known as "Anita," 59, of Fall River, wife of David A. Sarmento, passed away surrounded by her family and loved ones on Monday, May 5, 2025. Born in Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel, Acores, she was the daughter of Francisco Albergaria and the late Ana Maria (Medeiros) Albergaria.
Anita's nurturing spirit, unwavering support, and boundless love will live on in the hearts of all who were privileged to know her. She was a fiercely dedicated wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, niece, aunt, godmother, and friend. A lover of Christ and devoted Catholic.
Anita's journey was one of dedication and service. During her life she had many ventures. She became a social worker, a director in a nursing home, always caring deeply for others. Later, Anita and husband David built a life together as entrepreneurs, owning a breakfast spot known as Highland Spa, a catering company where they would provide food for the students of Bishop Connolly when her daughters were in school there, and up until recently she had also been operating a food truck business. They worked tirelessly, not just for success, but to create a legacy of love and stability for their daughters.
Anita's devotion was evident in everything she did. Anita's giving spirit extended far beyond her family. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether it was sharing food with those in need or comforting someone who was struggling. Her heart was as generous as her smile was bright.
Besides her husband of 33 years, she is survived by: her two daughters, Bianca Burns (husband Max) and Sophia Desmarais (husband Cameron); four brothers, Antonio Albergaria, Nuno Albergaria, Joao Albergaria, and Paul Albergaria; and many nieces and nephews. Ana was predeceased by her brother Frank Albergaria. She also leaves her grand "fur babies," whom she loved very much, Binx Burns and Dexter Desmarais.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, May 9th, in Holy Name Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery both in Fall River.
Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. If you were unable to do so, because of health concerns or any other reason, all are urged to express their sympathy online or by mail. To ensure that said condolences and/or sympathy cards reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website (www.silvafaria.com) and not through a third party. Thank you!
