Obituary

Andrew Desrosiers, 53, of Fall River, formerly of Somerset, passed away unexpectedly on Friday February 7, 2020 at R.I. Hospital, Providence. Born in Fall River, a son of the late Edward & Lorraine (Dias) Desrosiers, he graduated from Durfee in 1985 and attended the Police Academy – becoming a Fall River Police Officer in the early 1990s.
He received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Anna Maria College. After retiring from the Fall River police force in 2012,  he operated his own handyman business. He enjoyed participating in the PAL hockey league and was a fan of New England professional sports teams.    Family was always most important to Andy.  He loved watching his son play sports and his daughter dance. His favorite days were spent with them:  bike riding with Isabel, playing catch with Aidan, going out for breakfast, and hanging out at the beach. At family parties and gatherings, Andy would often be found playing with all the kids. He had a big heart and was always willing to help out anyone in need.
Survivors include: two children, Aidan John Desrosiers and Isabel Sofia Desrosiers both of Somerset; his former wife, Ann M. (Ramos) Desrosiers of Somerset; a brother, Matthew Desrosiers (wife Mary) of Tiverton; and several nieces & nephews. Son-in-law of Mary "Tina" (Faria) Ramos of Somerset and the late Luis M. Ramos, he is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Julie Ramos Gagliardi (husband Nicholas) of Somerset and Elizabeth Ramos Prosser (husband Jess) of California. Andrew was uncle to several nieces and nephews.  He was also a brother of the late Denise Black and Steven Desrosiers; and an uncle of the late Brendan Desrosiers.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, February 12th, in St. Patrick Church, Somerset, followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
