Anibal DeSousa, 92, of North Dartmouth, husband of the late Maria C. (Reis) DeSousa, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019. Born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Jose DeSousa and the late Evangelina (Patricio) DeSousa, he emigrated to Fall River in 1966, and lived in North Dartmouth for the past ten years.
A masonry laborer in the local construction industry for many years, he had also worked at Joan Fabric for some time. Anibal enjoyed fishing and yardwork, as well as woodworking in his retirement.
He is survived by: three daughters, Thelma Cardoso (husband Luis) of Somerset, Mary Camara (husband Edmundo) of North Dartmouth, and Cecilia DaCosta (late husband Manuel) of Fall River; one brother, Albert Damaso of Fall River; seven grandchildren, Joshua Cardoso, Stephanie Barbosa, Jason Cardoso, Eric Rodrigues, Philip Cardoso, Priscilla DaCosta, and Stacy Marques; ten great grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, Landen, Layla, Jason, Leah, Ian, Ava, Toby, and Jacob; and several nieces & nephews. He was also the brother of the late Manuel DeSousa, Francisco Damaso, Raul DeSousa, and Maria I. Martins.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, July 26th, in St Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
