Anna Mae
Mcdermott
d. Jun 1, 2020
Fall River
Anna Mae (Barboza) McDermott, 74, of Fall River, wife of the late Leo McDermott, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 1, 2020 after a long illness.
Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Teixeira) Barboza.
Prior to her retirement she worked as a Certified Nursing Aide at various local nursing homes for many years. A devout Catholic and a life-time member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, she always remained faithful to her strong religious beliefs. Anna was a very determined and generous woman who would help, not only her family, but anyone in need. But most important to her was spending quality time with her loving family. Anna will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by: her three children, Sheree McDermott of Fall River, Michelle Westner and her husband, Paul, of North Dartmouth, and Melissa McDermott of Fall River; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sisters, Rosemary Regan and Margaret Barboza; brothers, Victor Barboza, Joseph Barboza, John Barboza and Manuel Barboza; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the grandmother of the late Connor Barboza and the sister of the late Georgie, Frank, Mary, Isabelle "Penny", and Caroline Barboza, Marianna Dias, Christina Amaral, Otillia "Tillie" Hill, and Peggy Richardson.
Following her private cremation, Anna's Memorial Mass was celebrated on Saturday, July 25th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church.
Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. If you were unable to do so, because of this pandemic or any other reason, all are urged to express their sympathy online or by mail.
To ensure that said condolences reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website ( www.silvafaria.com ) and not through a third party. Thank you!
