Obituary

AnnMarie Grota, 91, of North Scituate, RI, widow of Edward A. Grota, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Harris Health Care Center North, Central Falls, RI. Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Lionel A. Cardoza and the late Rose (Francis) Moniz and adopted daughter of the late Joseph Moniz, she lived her younger years in Tiverton, Fall River and Somerset, moving to Rehoboth in 1969, then to Taunton in 1995, and resided in Rhode Island for the past 20 years.

A seamstress in the local textile industry during the 1940s & 1950s, AnnMarie was a homemaker for most of her life. A loving mother and devout Catholic, she was a former member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Seekonk. AnnMarie was an avid reader but mostly she enjoyed caring for and spending time with her family.

She is survived by: three sons, Robert J. Grota and wife Karen of No. Scituate, RI, Steven A. Grota and wife Jean of Rehoboth, MA, and Allen D. Grota and wife Jan of Brazil, Indiana; her grandchildren, Nicholas Grota, Jeannelle Grota, Danielle Grota, Steven Grota, Angela Antonelli, and Holly Grota, Nicolette Pagan, Jason and Brodie Dacus, Tiffany Lofgren, Nic, Ryan, and Justin Spurling; great grandchildren, Logan Dacus, Gianna Antonelli, Jackson and Caleb Grota, Benjamin, Jared, Brayden and Brooklyn Lofgren, Gemma, Chris, Connor, Lexie and Carson Spurling; a niece, Paula Sa; and a nephew, Jay Sa. AnnMarie was predeceased by: her son, Edward A. Grota, Jr.; her sister, Beatrice Sa; and her niece, Karen Sa.

Her Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, April 1st, in our Fall River Chapel followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.
