Obituary

Antone Correia, 80, of Fall River, husband of Anita (Pinard) Correia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in the comfort of his home following a long illness. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Antone T. Correia and the late Angelina (Oliveira) Correia.

Prior to his retirement he worked as a bus driver for S.R.T.A. for many years. He started with the Auxiliary Fire Dept in 1974. He was then promoted to Captain of Special Services and received multiple promotions throughout his tenure and upon retiring he served as Executive Captain of Special Services. He received many commendations from the City of Fall River for his dedication and accomplishments. Known as "Papa" by many, Tony was a fun-loving family man who enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A diehard New York Yankees fan, he also loved model trains, lighting his home up for Christmas, and music, playing the guitar, trumpet, and keyboard.

Besides his devoted wife of sixty-three years, he leaves his loving children, Antone Correia of Fall River, Rhonda Carmody and her husband, Thomas, of Westport, Brian Correia and his wife, Marlene, of East Freetown, Gail Mullin and her husband, Thomas, of New Hampshire, and Daryl Correia and his wife, Tiffany, of Sabastian, Florida; eleven grandchildren and soon to be 13 great-grandchildren.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, May 4th, at St. Bernard's Church in Assonet followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Antone's memory to: Southcoast VNA, Community Affairs, 200 Mill Rd., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
