Obituary

Antonio P. Arruda, 84, of Rehoboth, husband of Maria (Chaves) Arruda, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 24, 2021 at Tremont Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Wareham, MA, following a long illness. Born in Lagoa, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel Arruda and the late Julia (Pereira) Arruda.

Prior to his retirement, he was a carpenter in the local construction industry for many years. He loved gardening, cooking, and traveling extensively though out the world with his wife. He was a long-time member of the St. John Holy Ghost Society and Our Lady of the Light Society.  Antonio also enjoyed cooking for the Holy Ghost and the St. Dominic's Parish Feasts. But what was most important to him was spending quality time with all his family.

Besides his loving wife of sixty-two years, he leaves his children, Anthony G. Arruda and his wife, Dawn, of Cumberland, Rhode Island, and Diane M. Tetreault and her husband, Michael, of Rehoboth, Massachusetts; his five grandsons, Brian Arruda, Richard Arruda, Michael Tetreault, Christopher Tetreault, and Mathew Tetreault; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Dora J. Pacheco and her husband, Paul, of Florida; one brother, Floriano Arruda (late wife, Maria Jose) of Canada; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the great-grandfather of the late Grayson Arruda and brother of the late Fernando Arruda, Maria Lilliana Garcia, Domingos Arruda, and Maria Luisa Chaves.

His Funeral Service was held on Sunday, January 2th, during calling hours at our Fall River Chapel. A private cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Antonio's memory to: Rehoboth Lions Club, P.O. Box 633, Rehoboth, MA 02769.
