Antonio C. Resendes, 65, of Fall River, husband of Maria dos Anjos (Sardinha) Resendes, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born in St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Manuel Jacinto Resendes and the late Maria Espirito Santo (Calmeira) Resendes, he emigrated to Fall River in 1969.

He worked for many years in the local textile industry, employed at Joan Fabric and Quabric Fabric, and had also worked as a baker at several different bakeries. He enjoyed time spent with his family, as well as soccer and reading the O'Journal and the Portuguese Times newspapers.

Besides his wife, of 46 years, he is survived by: three children, Elsa Resendes (fiancé Richard Gagne) of Fall River, Luis Resendes (fiancée Deborah Manchester) of Swansea, and Sandra Resendes of Fall River; four siblings, Norberto Resendes of St. Michael, Azores, and Artemisia Sardinha, Margaret Tavares, and Maria Calmeira all of Ontario, Canada; three grandchildren, Rylee, Morgan, and Austin; and many nieces & nephews. He was also a brother of the late Luis, Jose, Gabriel, and Manuel Resendes.

Due to the COVID pandemic, a private service was held on Thursday, March 26th, in our Fall River Chapel followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.

A Memorial Mass will take place to celebrate Antonio's life on September 5, 2020 in St. Anthony of Padua Church at 12:00 noon.
