Antonio Ferreira, 89, of Fall River, husband of Zelia (Machado) Ferreira, passed away peacefully at Charlton Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 following a long illness. Born in Livramento, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Mariano Ferreira Mascafel and the late Maria Diamantina (Cabral) Ferreira.

Prior to his retirement he worked for American Dryer as a welder for many years. He loved gardening, making his own wine, and traveling back to his homeland in the Azores to visit family. He also enjoyed woodworking, creating many beautiful crèches for Christmas nativity displays. Most notably, Antonio was truly a happy man, an excellent provider for his family, and relished quality time spent with all of them, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides his devoted wife of sixty-four years, he leaves his loving children, Escolastica Saraiva (Tomas), Maria dos Anjos de Sousa (Carlos Alberto Vaquinha), Esmeralda Botelho (Luis Alberto), Zelia dos Anjos Azevedo (late husband, Antonio), Minerva Silveira (Joe), Ana Isabel Abreu (Lou Couto), and Mike Ferreira (Kristin); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was the last of six siblings.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, September 20th, in Espírito Santo Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
