Obituary

Antonio Melo, 83, of Fall River, life partner (for 48 years) of Marianna Da Cunha, passed away at home on Friday, January 24, 2025. Born in Ribeira Grande, St. Michael, Azores, he emigrated to East Providence in July of 1969 where he lived for several years then moved to Fall River where he resided most of his life.

He was employed as a supervisor at a metal fabricating company for many years, until his retirement in the mid-1990s. Antonio enjoyed gardening and winemaking and enjoyed membership in the Ribeira Grande Club. He had also been a parishioner of the former Holy Cross Church.

Besides Marianna, he is survived by: Marianna's four children; a sister, Fatima Santos of Edmonton, Canada; nephews, Manny Morgado (wife Maggie) and Peter Morgado; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Antonio was predeceased by a son, Antonio Pacheco, and a sister, Olivia Morgado.

His Private Funeral was held on Wednesday, January 29th, from our Fall River Chapel with a Mass of Christian Burial at Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal and entombment at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
