Antonio S. Paz, 71, of Fall River, husband of Osvalda (Medeiros) Paz, died Saturday on June 20, 2009 after an illness. Born in Sao Roque, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Manuel S. & Maria Encarnacao (Duarte) Paz, he emigrated to Fall River in 1973. He was employed in the local textile industry – retiring in 2001 – and had also worked as a baker on a cruise ship in his younger days. He was a member of the Boys Club, and had helped with Fall River Celebrates America food preparation for several years. He enjoyed baking and spending time with his grandchildren. Father of Manuel M. Paz of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Zenaide Carreiro of Westport. Brother of Angelina Paz of Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, Ines Medeiros, Francisco & Eduardo Paz all of Clinton, MA, Urania Silva of Lisbon, Portugal, Jose & Fernando Paz of Fall River, and the late Silvino Paz. Grandfather of Jonathan, Michael & Jennifer Paz of Bellevue, NE, Joshua & Christopher Carreiro of Fall River, Bianca Carreiro of Westport. Great grandfather of Joshua & Juliana of Fall River. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St Anthony of Padua Church. His committal service was held at St Patrick Cemetery.
