Pedro
d. Oct 10, 2024
Antonio C. Pedro, 72, of Fall River, husband of the late Marie L. (Hubert) Pedro, passed away at home on Thursday, October 10, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Jose Pedro and the late Benvinda (Miranda) Pedro, he emigrated to Fall River at the age of 14 years old. He was the longtime companion of Maritza Badillo.
Antonio operated several successful businesses for over 40 years before retiring in 2018. He was the former proprietor of Sunset Hill Variety of Bowen Street. Prior to that he had owned and operated Pedro's Mini-Mart formerly on South Main Street and the S & K Spa formerly on Rodman Street.
Antonio was an avid sports fan. He loved his New England sports teams, especially the Boston Red Sox. As a child, he enjoyed playing soccer as well as other outdoor activities. He was a lover of all animals, but none more than his beloved lap dogs Fiona and Cindy. He loved to try new foods and was well known for his delicious 2-foot grinders. He will be remembered by many for his selfless acts of kindness and generosity towards others.
Besides Maritza, he is survived by: seven children, Antonio Pedro (Nelly), Laurie A. McKenna (Paul), Mary Ellen Pedro, Cheryl A. Graves, Rebecca L. Pedro, Sarah B. Pedro, and Andrew S. Pedro (Stephanie), all of Fall River; Eric Rivera & Jonathan Gonzalez to whom he was like a father; four siblings, Jose Pedro of Westport, Teresa Gaudencio of No. Dartmouth, Maria Thibault of Swansea, and Messias Pedro of Westport; twelve grandchildren, Jasmine, Trevor, Seth, Elijah, Jacob, Blake, Victoria, Mya, Jack, Emma, Raven, and James; a great granddaughter, Stella Brooke; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service was held on Monday, October 14th, after calling hours in our Fall River Chapel. His burial at Notre Dame Cemetery was private. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Antonio's memory to Forever Paws Animal Shelter, 300 Lynwood St, Fall River, MA 02721; 508-677-9154.
