Antonio N. Pereira, 71, of Fall River, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024, after a short illness. Born in Sao Vicente, Madeira, a son of the late Manuel Nunes Pereira and the late Maria Segunda De Gouveia, he emigrated to Fall River in 1966.

He started work in the local textile industry in the early 1970s, then became a mechanic for Fall River Taxi in the late 1970s. Antonio was also a commercial fisherman in the 1980s and went on be an auto body technician. In the early 1990s, he worked in road construction and became a union laborer, a member of Local 610, employed for many years in the construction industry, until his retirement in 2017.

Antonio was proud to have become a US citizen in 1980. He was a longtime member of the Club Madeirense SS Sacramento of New Bedford. Antonio also enjoyed occasional trips to Madeira and spending time with his family, especially all his godchildren whom he loved very much.

He is survived by seven siblings, Lina De Gouveia, Bernardete N. Correia, Teresa N. Pereira, Angelina Pereira De Gouveia, Margarida N. Menezes, Leonarda Raposo, and Jose Nunes, and several nieces and nephews. Antonio was also predeceased by his siblings, Manuel N. De Gouveia, Maria N. Pestana, and Joao N. Pereira.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, February 15th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
