Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Mr. António Eduardo Resendes on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the age of 78, in Fall River, MA, USA. António left this world surrounded by the love and warmth of his cherished family, leaving behind a legacy filled with adventure, passion, and love. Antonio was born in 1946 in the picturesque town of Faial da Terra, S. Miguel, Azores, Portugal, to Luzia Vieira Pereira and Manuel Clemente Resendes.

António is survived by his beloved wife Lasalette Brasil Resendes, who was his loving companion throughout life's journey, and he is deeply missed by his daughter, Maryanne Resendes, who carries forward his love for learning, fashion/design, discovery, adventure and his quick-witted sense of humor. António's legacy continues to shine in the laughter and youthful energy of his cherished grandchildren, Noa Rimpel, aged 14, and Xander Rimpel, aged 10, and his loving brother Humberto Resendes, with wife Rosa Maria, and their children, Christopher and Rachel.

His adventurous spirit took flight as he served in the Portuguese Air Force as a pilot navigator, where he found joy and fulfillment in exploring the world from the skies before coming to the USA in the late sixties, where he became a successful real estate and insurance broker / businessman.

A true connoisseur of life, António had an extraordinary passion for foreign cars, with a particular fondness for Porsche, appreciating the craftsmanship and elegance they embodied. His insatiable curiosity and zest for reading, music, meditation, and travel took him on countless journeys, residing for various periods in New Bedford, Fall River, Florida, Brazil, and his native land, Portugal, where each place added its distinct thread to the rich tapestry of his life.

During his time on earth, António touched many lives with his wit, wisdom, and enthusiasm for the world around him. He leaves behind not just memories, but inspiration for all who knew him to live fully and explore wholeheartedly.

As we say goodbye, we celebrate a life lived with courage, curiosity, and unyielding passion. Though Antonio may have departed from this world, his spirit remains indelibly etched in the hearts of his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Following a private cremation, His Memorial Service honoring Antonio's life was held on Saturday, February 8th, during a visitation period in our Fall River Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests donations be made in Antonio's memory to the Antonio Resendes Aviation Scholarship, P.O. Box 63012, New Bedford, MA 02746, dedicated to inspiring young Portuguese-American youth to pursue a career in aviation, one of the interests that Antonio held dear throughout his extraordinary life.
