Antonio Jose Tavares, 45, of 224 Alden Street, died Sunday at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Husband of Eulalia Tavares. Born in Capelas, Sao Miguel, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel and Maria Tavares. He immigrated to Fall River in 1982. He worked at Quality Craft for 20 years as a welder. He was an avid fan of the Sporting Soccer Club. Tony was the father of Cliff and Kyle Tavares: brother of Rose Pimental, Custodia Carreiro, Alvarins, Manuel, Davide and Saul Tavares and the late Simao Tavares. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.His Funeral Mass, celebrated by Father Manuel Garcia, was offered on Friday (2/8) in St. Michael Church. Committal services followed at St. Patrick Cemetery. Pallbearers were Cliff Tavares, Kyle Tavares, Derrick Pimental, Carlos Medeiros, Joe Medeiros and John Ferreira.
