Aristeves "Steve" Viveiros , 88, of Westport, husband of Lorraine (Araujo) Viveiros,  passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February  7, 2018 at Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones. Born on Bretanha, St.Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Daniel and Maria Silvina (Pavao) Viveiros. He and his family emmigrated when he was just seventeen and not long after he met his future wife, Lorraine.  They settled down in Westport, MA where he lived until his passing.

Steve was the heart and soul of his family; his love shined through in everything he did for them and with them.  His heart was as big as his smile, and he was always there to help anyone, always putting others before himself.  His love for others extended beyond his family. Steve was funny, outgoing and definitely a people person; one could not help but be drawn in to talk with him.  He would not hesitate to talk to a stranger on the street or in the market and put a smile on their face.  He was loved by everyone that ever met him.  There isn't a person that would say a negative thing about Steve.  Always joking around and telling stories, his smile would light up a room.

He was a man who would not sit still; taking care of his yard, grapevine, pool and most of all his family.  He was always working on something, gardening or cooking.  He especially loved family get-togethers and cherished the weekends where he would host large family gatherings for everyone to come and enjoy swimming in the pool, each other's company and his delicious meals.  When he wasn't busy doing something, you could bet he was playing with one of his beloved animals: his Chihuahuas, Spike & Ollie or his cat, Salem.  Steve loved animals and was often referred to as Noah since most pets were drawn to him and the food he freely shared with them. What Steve loved most of all though, what he lived for, was his family. They were his world, and he showed his love every day to all.  He loved and spoiled his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He would do anything to see them happy and put a smile on their faces.  He, in turn, was loved and respected as the patriarch of our family.  He instilled so many values and traditions that we will all carry on and forever hold dear.  He will be loved forever and greatly missed.

Besides his wife of sixty-five years, he leaves: his daughter, Jacqueline A. Cabral and her husband Robert of Dartmouth; his son, Glenn S. Viveiros and his wife Donna of Westport; seven grandchildren, Victoria, Derek, Nicole, Patrick, Kevin, Michael, and Courtney ; twelve great-grandchildren, Steven, Brenda Lee, Zachary, Gavin, Hunter, Olivia, Brendan, Chloe, Lily, Drew, Makayla, and Myahlyn; one brother, Raul Viveiros and his wife Mary of Swansea;  sisters, Linda Silva (late husband-Vasco) of Somerset, and Alda Silva and her husband Anibal of Fall River; sister-in-law, Theresa Viveiros of Tiverton; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Daniel Viveiros. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, February 17th, St. George Church in Westport followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
