Obituary

Arminda (Melo) Almeida, 94, of Fall River, widow of Augusto D. de Almeida, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Casal Vasco, Portugal, the daughter of the late Antonio Albuquerque Forte and the late Cecilia (de Melo) Forte, she emigrated to Fall River in February of 1967.

She was employed as a seamstress and "sleeve-setter" in the local garment industry for 24 years, retiring in 1991 from Samesta formerly of Fall River, and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union ("I.L.G.W.U.") now called UNITE. Arminda also enjoyed crocheting.

She is survived by: two daughters, Mary Lou Carvalho (husband Antonio) of East Providence, RI, and Mary Senra (late husband Paul) of Westport; a brother, Armando Forte (wife Valentina) of Fall River; two grandchildren, Nelson Carvalho (Rachel) and Paul Senra; two great grandchildren, Sky and Payson Carvalho; several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Antonio Forte and Germano Forte.

Due to the COVID pandemic, Arminda was laid to rest on Friday, December 4th, with a private committal service at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
