Arthur T. Abrams, age 84, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2008, at the Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, following an illness. He was the husband of Yvette E. (Lapre) Abrams, formerly Tolley, of Swansea, MA, and the late Marjorie G. (Healey) Abrams. Born in Nyack, NY, he was a son of the late Theodore Abrams and the late Minna H. (Soenneken) Abrams. He was employed as an insurance agent with the Prudential Insurance Company for thirty three years and was a member of the Prudential Retirees Association. A World War II Veteran of the United States Coast Guard, he was a life member of the William S. Green Chapter 9 of the Disabled American Veterans in Fall River. He was also a member of the Bishop Cassidy Council 3669 of the Knights of Columbus in Swansea. An avid golfer, he enjoyed playing during his winter retirement months in Florida and especially enjoyed competing in the Knights of Columbus Golf League every summer. Art would like to remind his brother Knights of the numerous trophies he earned in their golf league. In addition to his wife, Yvette, surviving family members include two sons, Arthur G. Abrams of Clear Spring, MD, and Robert J. Abrams of Kimberwick, OH, four step children, James E. Tolley of Freetown, MA, Norma-Jean Toti of Lakeville, MA, and Doreen A. Tolley and Janice M. Lyons, both of Swansea, eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Richard W. Abrams and the late Robert L. Abrams who was a casualty of World War II. His Funeral Mass was offered in St Francis of Assisi Church, Swansea on Wednesday (5/7). Committal services followed at St Patrick's Cemetery in Fall River.
