Arthur L. Duffy Jr., better known as "Bud", age 90, of Dartmouth, formerly of Portsmouth RI and Connecticut passed away on Sunday May 9th, 2021 after a long illness. Born in Fall River, a son of the late Arthur L. Duffy and the late Edna (Cunneen) Duffy, he was a Kings Point Marine graduate.

A Maritime sea captain and member of Northeast Marine Pilots / Sound Pilots he guided ships up and down Rhode Island & Block Island Sounds, Buzzards Bay and Cape Cod Canal for many years. Arthur worked overseas with the Merchant Marines during the Vietnam War. He captained ships in the Far East and South America for big companies like Exxon and Hess to name a few. Arthur particularly enjoyed his time spent in Japan and Chile.

A devout advocate of healthy eating and exercise he enjoyed jogging and biking throughout his life, and swimming, boating, hunting, and fishing in his younger years in Portsmouth. Spearfishing as a child at Bristol Ferry Lighthouse was a favorite. Arthur loved his Saab automobiles and worked on all aspects of the vehicles himself. Bud was the consummate handy man and there was not a tool he didn't own and use. Arthur was a truly unique individual who lived life on his own terms.

He is survived by a sister, Anne Kenney of Hancock, NH, many nieces and nephews including his caregiver, Jeffrey Kirkman of Swansea. Arthur was the brother of the late Janice Kirkman, Thomas Duffy, Martin Duffy and David Duffy.

Following his private cremation, His Memorial Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, May 22nd, in Holy Name Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Arthur's memory to New England Hospice, 190 Derby Street, Suite 304, Hingham, MA 02043.
