Arthur S. Resendes, 67, of Fall River, passed away on March 8, 2009 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Rosa M. (Domingues) Resendes, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Mariano & Adelide (Silva) Resendes. A fall river resident for 49 years, he was a retired textile worker for the former Globe Mfg., Quaker Fabrics and Taunton Silversmith. A member of the Don Carlos club, he enjoyed sports and was a fan of Porto and the Red Sox. Survivors include daughters, Melinda Batista (husband – Jason) and Stacy Resendes, both of Fall River; brothers, Mariano Resendes of Sao Paulo, Brazil and Jose Resendes of Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores; a sister, Maria Medeiros of Fall River, grandchildren, Evan & Sabrina Batista and several nieces and nephews. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Pallbearers Evan and Jason Baptista, Brian, Eric and Don Domingues, and Jason Moniz brought Arthur to his final resting place at Notre Dame Cemetery.
